You’ve got a clean WooCommerce store, products looking sharp, shipping ready… but your customers want to pay with mobile money, and you’re still stuck in the card world. That’s where Modem Pay comes in, the gateway that actually understands how people pay now.
Mobile money isn’t “alternative” anymore; it’s how most people move cash. If you’re not accepting it, you’re literally blocking sales. The fix? Setting up Modem Pay is stupid simple.
Because it just works. Fast, secure, no weird redirects. Customers pay, you get your money, everyone’s happy. It seamlessly integrates with WooCommerce orders, as if it had always been there.
Different markets, different payment styles. Modem Pay was built for that.
Soon you’ll just click Install. For now, we’re doing it manually.
Download the plugin ZIP from the Modem Pay repo
Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
Upload the ZIP and hit Install Now
Click Activate Plugin
Boom! You’re in business.
Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments
Click Modem Pay → Manage
Toggle it ON
Add your Title (e.g., “Pay with Modem Pay”) and Description
Turn Test Mode ON
Add your Test Keys
Save changes, do a test payment
Once it’s working, turn Test Mode OFF, add Live Keys, and save again
Done. You now accept mobile money like a pro.
Test a payment before going live
Make sure transactions show up in your Modem Pay dashboard
Double-check that your keys match your mode (test vs live). Don’t mix them.
Not showing at checkout? Make sure it’s enabled.
Payments failing? Wrong keys or test mode still on.
WooCommerce missing? Yeah… install WooCommerce first.
Once it’s set, customers can pay with mobile money right from checkout; no redirects, no drama. Smooth, secure, and made for the real world.
Now go get that bag.
